Dr. Chang

President

Dr. Chang obtained a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Microbiology from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, USA. Dr. Chang is a tenured Full Professor in University of Florida College of Medicine, and appointed as President of Shenzhen Geno-immune Medical Institute (GIMI), Shenzhen, China. He has published more than 150 scientific publications and filed more than 30 US/International patents. Dr. Chang develops novel molecular biology and gene therapy tools and participates in individualized medical treatments in multiple clinical trials applying gene and cell based therapeutics. He served as Scientific Consultant for United Nations from 2002-2009, and served as Special Government Employee for US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as advisor for Cellular, Tissue and Gene Therapies advisory committee from 2010-2018. He served as a member of International Committee and Viral Vector Committee of the American Society for Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT), and served as Editor-in-Chief of Current Gene Therapy, and an editorial board member in multiple international journals. Dr. Chang’s research Interests have been on developing lentiviral vectors as gene transfer tools and using innovative approaches to study the development of stem cells and functional immune cells. His research projects have been funded by multiple national and international funds total more than 30 million US dollars. The emphasis of research has been to translate basic science into clinical treatment for genetic diseases, infectious diseases and cancer. Research activities include characterization of cellular and immune modulatory factors that are essential to the development of protective immunity in patients. Innovative immunotherapy approaches are developed for the treatment of infections and cancer. The long-term goal is to translate basic scientific discovery into clinical applications.

Chang, Cheng-Wei, M.D.

Chang Cheng-wei, master's degree, majoring in microbiology and immunology, proficient in cell culture, drug concentration and extraction, and skilled in small animal experimental operations and immunological measurement evaluation. Since 2010, I have been engaged in experimental work related to immune cell culture and treatment in Dr. Chang laboratory. I am familiar with immunology, molecular biology, flow cytometry, ELISPOT, Intra cell cytokine stain (ICCS), etc. From 2011 to 2013, we collaborated with Beijing Cooperative Hospital - Daopei Hospital to use immune cells to treat patients with opportunistic virus infection after bone marrow transplantation; Cooperated with Tianjin Cooperative Hospital - Tianjin First Central Hospital to use immune cells to prevent cancer recurrence in liver cancer transplant patients; And began to cultivate mesenchymal stem cells for research on rejuvenation therapy. After 2016, we focused on basic clinical research in the treatment of tumors and virus related diseases and immune genetics, and completed clinical cell therapy research such as the preparation of specific immune lymphocyte CTLs, immune experiments on CAR-T cells, and mesenchymal stem cell culture. Has two CAR-T related domestic patents. In 2020, we started to participate in the research of COVID-19 vaccine, analyzed the structural protein peptides of different parts of the virus, and publish articles related to COVID-19 SCI. I am currently the R&D director of GIMI, holding GCP and medical ethics certificates. I have also established and applied for the Medical Ethics Committee and Animal Experiment Ethics Committee of GIMI, and served as a core member.

Zhang, Rui, M.D.

From September 2007 to March 2014, she studied biological engineering as a bachelor and chemical engineering and technology as a master in Beijing institute of Technology . After that, she joined Professor Zhang Longji's team in April 2014 and learned preparation and culture of immune cells, learned the latest lentiviral production process and gene delivery technology, CAR T cell preparation, toxicity efficacy testing and clinical cell therapy. In 2016, she went to the laboratory of Professor Zhang Longji at the University of Florida for one-year training. Proficiency in the following related skills: cell biology (cell culture, transfection, etc.), immunology (Western blot, immunofluorescence, ICCS, etc.), molecular biology (cloning, QPCR, etc.).

Wang, Ying-ying, M.D.

From 2008 to 2015, she studied Marine science as a bachelor and Marine biology as a master in Xiamen University. After that, she joined Professor Zhang Longji's team in 2017 and learned the latest lentiviral production process and gene delivery technology, CAR T cell preparation, toxicity efficacy testing and clinical cell therapy. Proficiency in the following related skills: histology (embedding sectioning, immunohistochemical staining, etc.), cell biology (cell culture, transfection, etc.), immunology (Western blot, immunofluorescence, ICCS, etc.).
